Happy Basant Panchami everyone!!!
The hangover of Valentines day has been such that very few of my friends actually remembered that today is basant panchami!!
According to the hindu calendar Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the Indian month of Magh (spring season). And it is also celebrated as Saraswati Puja in the states of Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Bengal.
On this day Lord Vishnu, God Krishna-Radha and Goddess of education Mother Saraswati is worshiped with yellow flowers, Gulaal, water offerings, incense, lamp etc. As per the tradition, yellow and sweet rice and yellow colored Halwa is offered to God in the pooja and then eaten as Prasad.
In simple words this day means that the winters are ending and now is time for the most beautiful season of the year, Spring!!!
I personally find this season as the best season of the year. Since I live in Delhi, I experience the most pleasant weather possible in this city and find flowers everywhere. The trees have new leaves and the flowering ones add a pretty dash of colour to the roads! The round-about’s and public building are lined with flowers and there’s beauty everywhere!
There’s no more of the harsh winter and a pleasant breeze soothes the city that was packed behind layers of woolens!
Wecome dear spring season…..you were missed.
Lovely Rose, though for Basant Panchami a yellow flower was needed! :)
